I cannot believe it has almost been 18 years since you've been gone Selena.. I too became a fan of your music after you passed away.. when the movie came out I instantly fell in love with your music!! english, spanish.. all of it,even though I don't know spanish! Such a beautiful voice and beautiful person. You would have been bigger than ANY artist out here today!! :( I will continue to keep your music alive <3 como la flor<3

Although I was very young when Selena died, It was not until later in life that I became a great fan of her music. I attribute this 'fandom' as rising as a result of her death,as when I was young I did not relate to her at first but instead listened to her music as a means to remember the fallen singer. Overtime I have come to realize the many things that Selena stood, and still stands for today. As a Latina role model she is an inspiration to young Latinas, challenging dominant standards of beauty and exposing racialized views of Latina bodies. Also greatly significant within the * * * community, Selena allows for individuals to express sexuality and provides a means by which to express their resistance against marginalization as well as a way to collectively express their struggles against social norms and patriarchal limitations within Latino culture.

I admired you growing up, I have never forgotten you. As you were ripped away from all of us well before your time. I miss your smile and your music all we are left with are memories of what could have been. But in the time that you were here, you accomplished more than what anyone could accomplish in a lifetime. You are a legend my dear. With love always.

I would just like to say that I admired Selena for who she was and what she stood for. She was a ray of sunshine to all those around her and she was real. She will be truly missed by her family and her fans. May we keep her legacy alive and continue to pray for her husband and her family.
